Sustainability Week Switzerland wins the youngCaritas Award 2019

Shathu, Marie-Claire, Simon, Gaia and Noemi were delighted to receive the award on behalf of the SWS.

We are very excited to have been honoured with the youngCaritas Award 2019. With the youngCaritas Award, the humanitarian NGO honours projects by young people who commit themselves to a sustainable and just world with creativity and high personal commitment.

This award is a wonderful recognition for everyone who’s been part of the journey. In 2013, the first ever Sustainability Week was organized in Zurich. This year, over 400 volunteers across Switzerland organized 14 Sustainability Weeks at 27 higher education institutions across Switzerland.

Our vision is to bring sustainability into all aspects of Swiss higher education institutions and support them to become sustainability role models for our society overall. The winning team will get to travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2020 and to gain an insight into Caritas Switzerland’s local projects.

The award is a great encouragement and motivates us to continue our commitment to greater sustainability at universities. This year, the Sustainability Week International was also launched and soon there will be sustainability weeks on different continents. We look forward to the years to come!
